Now’s The Time To Get Your Website Ranked Higher – Forbes

To attract high-paying clients, especially during a pandemic, you need to be proactive. One way is to get a higher ranking for your website.

Google’s algorithm for ranking websites is complex, multi-faceted, and—frustratingly—changing all the time. Their engineers see to that. My advice is to turn to an engineer for help.

Jim Kaspari came from a chemical engineering background at Genentech. He has taken a technical approach to unravelling the mysteries of successful online digital marketing. His book, 47 Latest SEO Secrets to Getting More Web Traffic From Google, comprises over a decade of experience helping businesses across the country develop their web presence to attract more clients.

According to Kaspari, there are five simple strategies that anyone can implement to improve their SEO and make their website rank higher on Google. Each one is an important part of the massive puzzle that is Google’s fickle algorithm.

Make it easier for clients to find you. Don’t make your clients do the legwork to find your business. “Be a detective and find out what your ideal clients are typing into Google,” Kaspari advised. “What exact words and phrases do they use? What questions do they ask? This gives you the foundation for your on-site SEO with meta tags, meta descriptions, alt tags on images and relevant outgoing links.  You can also weave these keyword phrases into your page content, blogs and FAQs.” Google itself offers tools in the form of Google Analytics and Google Trends that can help you incorporate terminology and keywords that will attract clients to your site.

Keep Your Content Fresh! Part of Google’s algorithm is based on timeliness, which means your website’s content, even the evergreen articles, need to be updated in order to stay on Google’s radar. Kaspari explained that “your content should be up to date and added to on a regular basis. Be interesting, relevant, helpful, valuable and funny.” Staying on top of Google Trends results will help you stay abreast of trending and changing topics around your business, or industry.

Do an amazing job. “The #1 marketing tool is word of mouth, and we get this by excellent customer service, and high-quality products. In the digital marketing world, this means getting 5-star reviews on Google My Business, Yelp and as many other local directories as you can find. There’s no need to get paid listings. Keep doing wonderful business, and when your clients are overjoyed, simply ask them to write you a review on one of these sites.”

Yes, you guessed it, social media.  Social media pages all count as additional Google pings that clients can find you through, so you should view them as freely available marketing platforms. Kaspari advises to hold off on the paid promotion though, and instead use social media to provide an additional service. “It’s not about promoting your business on social media sites,” Kaspari explained. “This is where you put out valuable, interesting tips that help your clients get what they want.  Create a power referral team, and promote your friends.  It’s much more powerful to get recommended by a friend than to toot your own horn.”

Smile, You’re On Camera! Notice how YouTube videos always appear at the top of every Google search? It’s not just because Google owns YouTube, but video content is becoming an increasingly more popular medium across every generation. In addition to increasing your SEO rankings, video content is a great tool for keeping your social media channels active. Kaspari’s last piece of advice on the subject: “Clean up, dress up and make some videos. Don’t worry, everyone else is just as afraid as you are. You can do this!”

Search engine optimization is an increasingly more crucial part of any business’s branding strategy. Naturally, it requires a proactive approach. This specific marketing strategy is so important, an entire sub industry has risen to help businesses figure it out.
