The youth sector statutory bodies’ Bureaux meet online to ensure the continuity of their work – Council of Europe

As Covid-19-related international travel restrictions are still in place, the Bureaux of the Advisory Council on Youth (CCJ) and of the European Steering Committee for Youth (CDEJ) will meet online on 4 and 5 June 2020 to ensure the work of the Council of Europe youth sector statutory bodies continues.

The Bureaux will meet to prepare the next plenary meetings, which should be held in October 2020 in the European Youth Centre in Strasbourg, and to examine upcoming strategic matters in a series of exchanges of views with key stakeholders. With the Director General of Democracy, they will discuss a future possible youth campaign; with the Director of Democratic Participation, they will review the current situation; and with the Head of the Youth Department they will look more closely at the findings of the Joint Council on Youth’s working group on responses to Covid-19.

The Bureaux will together examine the results of a survey, implemented by the Advisory Council on Youth amongst young people, their organisations and the governmental representatives, on their proposals for the youth sector’s priorities for the next biennium (2022-2023). The results of this examination will inform the draft priorities to be examined by the Joint Council on Youth in October.

The Bureaux will also receive a report on progress with the draft text of a possible Committee of Ministers’ recommendation on protecting youth civil society organisations and young people.

Finally, the Bureaux will together finalise the programme of the thematic debate on the climate crisis and global governance, which will be held online on 17 June 2020, and the draft agenda for the 43rd meeting of the Joint Council on Youth (13-14 October 2020).
